District Agro Meteorological Units (DAMU)

About The Project:

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) began its network initiative, the National Initiative on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA), in February 2011. The goal of this initiative is to create and spread agricultural climate-resilient technology. The project's results will make it easier for the districts and regions susceptible to extreme weather, such as drought, flood, frost, heat waves, etc., to adapt to climate change.

Objectives

• To enhance the resilience of Indian agriculture covering crops, livestock and fisheries to climatic variability and climate change through development and application of improved production and risk management technologies.

• To demonstrate site specific technology packages on farmers’ field for adapting to current climate risks.

• To enhance the capacity of scientists and other stakeholders in climate resilient agriculture research and its application.
